The only thing getting smaller is your file.
The Discord preset starts at 20 MB. Discord's official File Attachments FAQ, checked on October 3, 2026, lists a 20 MB limit for non-Nitro users and notes ongoing experiments. Your account or server may have a different limit, so confirm the number shown in Discord.
Choose Custom to match another limit. SmallerKit reserves a little headroom and checks the actual output; a smaller result is normal. If a long gaming clip looks too soft, trim it before compression rather than forcing the entire video into a tiny file.
File size and playback compatibility are different questions. The app offers H.264 MP4 only when your browser can encode it. Otherwise it exports WebM and labels that choice; check the attachment preview in your Discord client.

Everything you should know before
making something smaller.
No. It is the starting preset based on Discord's official FAQ checked October 3, 2026. Subscription tiers, account experiments and future changes can differ. The custom target is editable; use the limit your account shows.
No video data is uploaded by this app. The browser reads the file locally and encodes the result on your device. There are no analytics scripts, accounts or remote processing services in this version. Your web host can still log ordinary page requests.
Input depends on what your browser can play. MP4, MOV and WebM are common containers, but the codec inside matters. For output, SmallerKit checks for H.264 MP4 support first and otherwise offers WebM. It never disguises one format with another extension.
This version records at playback speed, so allow roughly the length of the clip for each attempt, plus preparation. It may retry twice if the first file is over target. Keep this tab visible and your device awake; switching away stops the attempt to avoid an incomplete result.
This build has no payment system, signup or watermark. For predictable memory use, it accepts one video at a time, up to 250 MB and 10 minutes. Browser resources still vary; a file within those limits can fail on a low-memory device.
Not exactly. Re-encoding is lossy and can change resolution, frame rate, colors or audio. This version targets standard SDR clips, not HDR mastering. Preview the result and retain your original. Captions, chapters and extra audio tracks are not preserved.
